A Little Circus Book Gem Found in a (over) Hundred Year Old Tavern

While helping a friend clean out a family tavern over the weekend, she spotted this gem amongst the boxes of stuff accumulated for over one hundred years!  The business was called Mautz's Tavern and it was located in Bristol Wisconsin. The family ran the tavern from 1893 to 1979 and lived in the attached house.  For more cool information and pictures of the tavern's historical finds, check out the Mautztavern blog.

Looking forward to paging thru this little beauty.  First printing was April 1951.

From the 1st page:

Did You Know

  • That big cats are subject to sinus infection?
  • That wild animal trainers never carry guns?
  • That elephants have molars as big as a man's hand and that they can, and do, pull their own teeth?
  • That Gargantua, the most vicious animal ever in captivity, was "his own worst enemy"?  (curious to see what that means)
